I'm not a runner, but I've experienced this while cycling, and though I'd never claim to love rainy riding, I certainly feel great afterward. I'm cooled off, I've fought the elements, and I've emerged victorious. There was one time I got caught in a genuine thunderstorm while I was still six miles from home, and it was an area that had no trees (only vineyards), so I just had to pedal as fast as I could, thinking I was just going to die out there (so dramatic, right?). By the time I got to the final half mile, there was no more lightning, but I felt like I should be shouting, I'M ALIVE! as I rolled into the driveway.
