I’m so sorry to hear about your sweet daughter. We lost our son before his fifth birthday and I still struggle when someone asks how many children I have. I don’t usually want to get into the whole story with strangers but feel dishonoring to his memory if I don’t include him in the list.

I’m glad you had as many years as you did with her. Our next-door neighbors lost their 19-year-old son six months before we lost our own little one, and we came to the conclusion that you don’t really heal, per se, but you beome more able to focus on the good memories, and those good memories help in a way so that you can become just a little more numb to the bad.

Sharing your grief . . .
