When our kids were little, they participated in all the reading programs available. We got free books, free pizza, tickets to baseball games, free fast food, you name it. As homeschoolers, we read all the time, and our curriculum was literature-based, so a lot of great Newberry winners were consumed along the way. But they’d get frustrated at finishing the requirements too fast and having nothing to look forward to after the first week. Hey, a prize is a prize.

And good for you that your manipulation and coercion skills are being honed while doing a job you already love.
